Scientists in the UK are working on an inhaler that can save many lives and treat the corona virus in its early stages. Scientists hope to prevent this device from entering the stage of rapid deterioration during which patients with corona suffer from breathing problems.
According to scientists, the new inhaler uses an experimental drug that is inhaled in the lungs and helps the immune system fight the infection.
"This experiment is unique in that we target individuals with risk factors for severe symptoms, very early in the injury," said lead researcher Professor Nick Francis of the University of Southampton.
He added: "Early treatment may be the key to preventing serious complications from the Coronavirus, and reduces the need for hospital treatment."
The inhaler, converts a drug called SNG-001 into a fine mist that can be inhaled deep into the lungs. SNG-001 uses the protein "interferon beta" that our bodies produce during viral infection.
It is expected that scientists will start putting this device in health centers and hospitals after they have tested it on 120 people for 14 days, according to the British Daily Mail.
